Period I - The Early Church

The first period is the very early Church. Devotion in this period was cultivated by the Apostles and the early disciples. They witnessed Christ's love and the power of His name. They passed on their devotion to Our Lord through spoken and written word, through actions, and through the giving of their lives for him. The written word, particularly Sacred Scripture, attests to the love of and power of the name of Jesus. In this period devotion is to the Name of Christ, to the Name of Christ Jesus, to the Name of the Lord, and to the Name of Jesus.
