Devotion to the Name of Jesus Today

Period IV - Present Age

The fourth phase of devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus is rooted in the efforts of the Holy Name Society to make the name of Jesus known and loved. The Society grew out of the efforts of Blessed John of Vercelli, St. Bernardine, and St. John Capistran, aided along the way by many clergy, religious and lay people. In the mid-1900's, the Holy Name Society was very active and present across the United States and some places in Europe. A common form of the Society was as groups of members within parishes, organized also at the diocesan level. Today, this continues and is joined by a rekindling a devotion at all levels - personal, parish, society, diocesan, country - allowing each and all, throughout the world, the opportunity to know of love Jesus in and through his holy name.
