I run a small fitness club, everyone has a different schedule, requests - like artists: "I don't want to in the morning", "I only every other day", "I don't work on Wednesdays", and so on down the list. At first, we also stuck to Excel, then switched to Google Calendar, then to Trello, but all this was, in fact, patching holes. As a result, one day I just accidentally came across https://shifton.com/shift-scheduling - first for a 14-day trial. And then for the first time I understood what schedule generator work is and how it can save your nerves. The point is that you set up all the parameters in advance: the availability of each employee, the type of shifts, the duration, the minimum and maximum number of working hours, breaks between shifts, you can even prohibit certain days - for example, if someone goes to university on Fridays. I have a trainer who can only go out after 3:00 p.m. — Shifton remembers this and doesn’t schedule him before that time. And yes, it really does have a generator that takes all of this into account, and then you get a logical draft schedule instead of a “random” one. Of course, there are some rough edges. Once, the system assigned two employees to the same zone at the same time — because I didn’t add a role restriction. But that’s easy to fix. The main thing is that the skeleton of the schedule is already ready, you just have to tweak it a little if necessary. The coolest thing is that if someone gets sick or leaves, you just deactivate the person, and Shifton offers a rebuilt version of the schedule, without him. You don’t have to create everything from scratch. And — what I really liked — the employees themselves see their shifts in the app, receive notifications, and ask fewer questions, “When do I work?” This really takes the pressure off.

And we installed Shifton only for the night shift of security, so as not to get confused with the weekends. There, the "generator work schedule" is very helpful - especially when someone urgently goes on vacation, and we only have 6 people. So far, only positive impressions, although we have not yet delved deeply into the system.
